Dear Colleagues

During the past six months, we have been working on consolidating the ICON eAdmin platform with the first schools and preparing for the rollout of eAdmin to a second group of schools.

In Term 4, 2016 ICON eAdmin was rolled out to seven primary schools in the Archdiocese of Melbourne, and one new primary school which opened in the Diocese of Ballarat in January this year.

Staff from these schools have been engaged in regular meetings with the ICON project team. The learnings gained from these meetings have enabled the project team to improve and enhance the approach to training and workflow and the product’s usability.

I am grateful for the generosity of these staff in working together with the project team to ensure the ICON eAdmin platform meets the needs of Victorian Catholic schools.

We look forward to continuing our work with the rollout of ICON.

ICON eLearn

G Suite for Education online modules

As part of the ICON team’s commitment to support ongoing professional learning for schools, we have created 15 new online modules covering the G Suite (Google) applications. The modules offer a variety of activities and multimedia resources for hands-on experience with the G Suite applications.

The modules can be undertaken by teaching and non-teaching staff. Staff interested in undertaking these courses can find them on the CEV online courses site or register via My PL (IPLS) on the CEVN website.

To date there have been almost 250 registrations for these modules. 

ICON ePlan

We are working to ensure the seamless integration of student data into ePlan. This work is to be completed shortly with the integration of Student Profile and NAPLAN data, and the provision of an upload feature for the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) Progressive Achievement Tests (PAT).

We are also continuing to work with vendors such as SIMON, nForma, TribalEdge and Synergetic to integrate attendance, assessment and reporting data.

It is expected the integration of this data will be completed later this year.

Software licence agreements - reminder

A reminder that we recommend schools do not enter into long-term licensing and maintenance agreements for ICON-related software products. Instead, it is highly recommended that schools look to enter into one-year agreements only for software licensing that ICON will replace.

Next steps

We are preparing to rollout ICON eAdmin to a second group of schools at the end of Term 3, 2017, including four new primary schools opening in early 2018. As part of the implementation activities, staff will commence training in Term 3, 2017.
