Excursions

Absences due to excursions can be managed using either the bulk absence option in Absence Events Maintenance in eSIS or more commonly, by using the Excursions module. Teachers planning excursions can complete this task in SynWeb.

Managing Absences due to Excursions in SynWeb

Once the excursion has been created in SynWeb, organisers can create a Bulk Absence Event for all students attending the excursion using the Absences tab once they have consent to attend (see Creating an excursion). This is needed to indicate the students are attending an excursion so they are not marked as an unexplained absence by any other teachers during the day.

Rolls can be created for the entire group or according to the groups that have been created on the Groups tab in the Excursions module.

On the day supervisors can mark the roll by searching for the Excursion in Absence Events Maintenance in Synweb and clicking on Mark Attendance. Note that this does NOT flow through to the Attendance module. Any absent students will need to be recorded in the Attendance module as well.
